Gunjur, The Gambia

The Gambia is a great place particularly for winter holidays. It's warm and sunny, with good beaches, interesting wildlife and great people. The flights take about 6 hours, are relatively cheap and there is no jet lag - it's the same time zone as Britain (GMT).

We visited for the first time in Jan 2007 and loved the place so decided to build a cool, modern 2 bedroom house in a rural area of the country next to Footsteps Ecolodge. We are employing mainly local Gambian builders and our aim is that the house will have as little environmental impact as possible.

We hope that the house will be completed in time for Christmas and will be available for people to book early in 2009. For the latest news read our blog. or see our photos on Flickr
