A land of contrasts
For a small country Gambia is a land of contrasts. The tourist area caters for the majority of visitors looking for all inclusive holidays with good beaches. Your perception of Gambia might be from what you have heard from friends or friends of friends who have only visited this area. People have told us that the 'bumsters' (Gambians who hassle visitors for money) in this area have spoilt their holiday.

Seeking sanctuary
This is a real shame because it only takes 45 minutes to get to the haven of Sunbird House. Where you can keep busy or just sunbathe, watch wildlife, eat, drink and chill out.

Active holiday
Alternatively take a more active trip up the Gambia river which is meant to be fantastic. We have been to Gambia quite a few times and we haven't even taken the trip yet so we can't comment from experience. If you are likely to visit Gambia only once in your lifetime you must combine a trip up river with a visit to Sunbird House as it is so relaxing and a brilliant way to end your holiday.
