From our volunteers and guests:

"Volunteering for Excel Education Fund (EEF) in January and February of 2015 was a truly amazing experience.  It is difficult to explain how much your volunteer efforts are appreciated.  Hopefully you have helped change the life of a child or children in some way, no matter how small. At the same time you don't realize how much they have changed your life.
The are several factors to consider when volunteering internationally and the experience needs to be rewarding, staying at Sunbird House is perfect for that because the funds you are spending benefit the EEF project, and you get to stay in a safe and friendly living environment.

EEF is the perfect project to volunteer with.  It was founded by two dedicated and compassionate women from Moshi who have multiple years experience working with international volunteers.  They are dedicated to helping impoverished children with difficult living situations have a chance at a better life by helping provide them with a quality education and social experiences outside their communities.  The children sponsored by EEF are bright and eager to learn.  The children I worked with after school won a very special place in my heart.
I strongly recommend EEF to anyone considering volunteering in Tanzania.  You will come away with a new outlook on life, as well as a "new Tanzanian family".

If you have any questions about my volunteer experience, feel free to contact me. - Linda Dombrowski

"Sunbird House was a very relaxing and comfortable place to stay while in Moshi (July 2017). I loved being there and supporting the EEF project and it's founders, it made my stay in Moshi all the more rewarding. The neighborhood is quiet and the staff are so friendly they'll make you feel right at home!

The rooms are really spacious and I loved the super hot shower. Because it's a small B&B, your stay feels more personalized and that staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make sure you have a comfortable stay and accommodating any request (like vegetarian meals!) -  I loved that I could get Tanzanian home-cooked meals for dinner if I didn't feel like going into town. And I can't stress enough how nice of a bonus it is to know that your stay helps support a local charity; the women who run the house are so involved in the community and you get the added satisfaction of knowing that the money your stay at Sunbird House is helping support local projects." - Regina Guzman
